Last month, representatives of the BRIDGE project — Kostyantyn Kyrychenko (Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Head of the International Project Office at KSE), Oleksandra Keudel (Principal Investigator of the BRIDGE project), and Anastasia Tereshchuk (BRIDGE Project Manager) — participated in a webinar organised by the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine. The event brought together coordinators of various Horizon Europe projects from Ukraine, providing a platform to exchange experience, share successful project implementation practices, and discuss common challenges in their work.

During the webinar, BRIDGE representatives shared their approaches to organising grant writing and project management at the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE), as well as insights into the preparation of the grant application and the internal management of the BRIDGE project. The team also highlighted how the project supports the Kyiv School of Economics in becoming part of the European research area.

A key feature of the project is its “learning by doing” approach — learning through practice. This means that course participants, lecturers, and researchers not only acquire new knowledge but also apply it in their professional activities, for example by participating in the organisation of a citizens’ assembly or integrating newly gained knowledge into their teaching practice. A significant advantage of the project is the continuous educational support provided by partner universities abroad — the Technical University of Berlin, the University of Tartu, and Erasmus University Rotterdam.

The BRIDGE team also demonstrated their experience in working with communities and testing digital democracy tools. They shared management solutions that ensure the project’s stable operation, including regular communication with partners, clear distribution of responsibilities, and results-oriented planning with a focus on sustainability beyond the project’s completion.

In turn, colleagues from the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine shared useful recommendations on the effective management of grant-funded projects. The discussion covered the roles of coordinators and beneficiaries, the responsibilities of each party, procedures for amending grant agreements, and the importance of proper documentation.

We sincerely thank the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine for the invitation and for the practical advice that helps us feel supported by colleagues and move forward with greater confidence.
