The third session of the Deliberative Democracy Lab will take place as part of the BRIDGE project
On April 16–17, the third session of the Deliberative Democracy Lab will take place as part of the BRIDGE project. Participants will gather in Kyiv to discuss the use of deliberative democracy tools in the context of Ukraine's Law “On People’s Power”.
Jacob Birkenhäger, Director of the Berlin-based nexus Institute, will join the meeting. The institute is among the first in Europe to have systematically worked with minipublics — a format of public participation that engages people selected by lot in deliberations on important issues.
Jacob is a recognised public participation expert in the design of participatory processes and the integration of their outcomes into public policy. He has extensive experience in organising citizens’ assemblies, both at the regional, national and EU level. During this session of the Lab, he will speak about how to conduct large-scale citizens’ assemblies and share approaches to managing the costs of their organisation.
We will be sure to share the recommendations developed through the discussions. Stay tuned for updates.
