Join us for a discussion: “Reconfiguring Democracy through Deliberation: Lessons from the Citizens’ Assembly on Sustainable Urban Mobility in Zhytomyr”.

The citizens’ assembly convenor and the organisers will share their fresh insights on how to keep democracy alive with deliberative innovation despite the war. They will be joined by a sister project, REDEMOS, which critically explored EU democracy promotion efforts in the Eastern Partnership countries.

Speakers:

Oleksandr Cherniakhovych — Adviser to the Head of Zhytomyr City and Chair of the Committee on Deputies’ Activities, Procedures, and Compliance with Legislation of the Zhytomyr City Council.

Dr. Oleksandra Keudel — as the Director of the Center for Democratic Resilience and an Associate Professor, she leads the BRIDGE project at the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE).

Dr. Kerstin Lücker — Head of the Technology and Participation Unit, Technische Universität Berlin. Trained in Slavic studies, she brings profound international expertise in citizens’ assemblies and has supervised the citizens’ assembly in Zhytomyr within the Horizon Europe BRIDGE project.

Dr. Maryna Rabinovych — as an Assistant Professor at KSE, she leads KSE's contribution to Horizon Europe REDEMOS project. She brings expertise in EU democracy promotion and public participation in EU accession.

Panel moderator: Illia Tkachenko — Citizens’ Assembly Coordinator at the Center for Democratic Resilience at KSE. He focuses on participatory urban development.
